On Wednesday, February 4th,  the Journalism Academy at HMS traveled to visit the journalism class at HHS. Being there personally, I can tell you that this was a very exciting tour! When we first stepped into the class, we were greeted by journalism teacher Ms. Gerst and students who took this elective. Ms. Gerst first showed us the green screen room where most of the videos during the morning announcements are taken. One of our members Alex was able to sit where the announcers usually sit. Next, we went into the editing room. There members can edit the green screen while they’re reporting live! Ms. Gerst showed how they were able to edit the green screen and what they were able to do with it. Next, we talked to the makers of the Devil Advocate! At first, we were searching for the notoriously funny rapper, the one and only AC Brezzy! Although our search was unsuccessful, we were able to learn a lot from the kids who took this elective. We watched a short movie that was filmed with a GoPro. This film was titled, “A Day in the Life of a Hammonton Highschooler. In this we saw the person who filmed this going to classes and lunch. Also, we saw a slide show that was made with IMovie. We saw the kids having a wing-eating contest, etc all during the pep-rally All in all, this trip was a very exciting one! I would not have guessed how much we were able to learn, and how many ideas we got. I honestly loved this trip and I hope we can do this all over again. But this time with more members!
