Have you ever wondered how the inspiring and uplifting chalk messages on the entrance way sidewalks get there. Well the answer is Kindness Club! They take time out of their days twice every week, so they can make your days all the more enjoyable. There is a wide range of people, and a wide range of reasons to join Kindness Club, and doing the Chalk’s the Walk in specific. Gianna in 6th grade said, “I want everyone to walk in happy” and was “going for something to make people happy.” In addition Rocco in 7th grade states, “I want everyone to be happy.” Finally Addison in 6th grade said, “My favorite part about the kindness club is making people smile.” So, really all you need to be a great kindness club member is a drive to make people feel good about themselves.
The members also chose very creative designs to help brighten people’s days. For example, Leena from 6th grade drew a sunny side up egg because she wanted to, “remind people to keep their personalities sunny side up.” Mckenna in 6th grade picked her design, “to let people know it would be a good day.” Now if you’re worried that you’re not creative enough or can’t think of a design, take inspiration from 6th grader Arianna who, “got inspiration on Google and picked it to make people happy.”
The kindness club not only makes student’s days, but teacher’s days as well. This fact is confirmed by many teachers. Including but not limited to, Mrs. DeNucci, the General Office Secretary, who says “I love how it brightens up everyone’s day.” In addition, Mrs. Gallucio the Foods and Nutrition teacher who said, “It makes my day.” There are even some teachers who keep kindness club cards on their rear view mirror.
All of this and more is what you can get into by joining HMS’s Kindness Club. It is all run by the advisors Mrs. Sacco and Mrs. Anderson. So next year when you’re considering joining a club and don’t know which one to pick, maybe try Kindness Club and you too can “Chalk the Walk”.
