HMS Loves Hoops for Heart

Hoops for Heart is a very effective program that has been going on for fourteen years. This program raises money for people with heart diseases. So far HMS alone has raised over $30,000 for this fundraiser. Hammonton Middle School is in the top ten for schools raising the most money in Atlantic/Cape May County.

Some of the record categories include: buzzer beaters, half court shots, and the three-point contest.

In the buzzer beater, you have to beat the previous record in one minute. This year 8th grader Rey Triboletti broke the record with twenty-six points; the previous record was twenty five points.

The half court shot can be made in many different ways.

Next, there is the three-point contest. In the three-point contest, there are basketballs set up on the three point line. The goal is to make as many baskets as you can in one minute.

In addition to the kids at HMS donating money, the staff also does, too. The Hammonton Middle School staff hosts a “Heart Healthy” lunch. This means that each staff member brings in a healthy lunch to share.  The staff member that attend the luncheon then donate money to the American Heart Association.

Remember every penny counts!
