Patricia Reilly Griff’s novel, Pictures of Hollis Woods, is about a foster child who runs away from house to house– even if she enjoys the family she is placed with.  Hollis is a troublemaker with a love for art. Her new foster parent, Josie, cares deeply about Hollis and both share the same love of art.

Josie is the one person that Hollis can care about.  However, Hollis did love another family that she stayed with before. The Reagan’s gave Hollis a home and provided for all her needs.  What could have happened that made her run away from such a great family?

One thing that I liked about this book was that it had an amazing twist towards the ending. (Psst… If you’d like to know what happens…. READ IT!)  The book has great detail as well!  If you adore fictional books with a great amount of detail, then this is the novel for you.

This book won the Newbery Honor award in 2003 and is sure to be a favorite of most young adult readers. If you do happen to read this novel, then please leave a comment below with your opinion.  Hope you read it!
