Now that students are finally adjusting to the 2024-2025 school year, fall sports are starting, and so much has already happened. This article will catch readers up on Boys & Girls Soccer, Cross Country, and Field Hockey. After talking to the coach of the nm Field Hockey team, Ms. Olive, who are currently 5-3-1 in their season. Their 7th grader, Emily Williams, is leading the team with 4 goals, with Brynn Gribbin only one behind. Their goalies, Gigi Galli (8th grade) and Vera Birnbaum (6th grade) have had 5 shutouts combined this season!
The boys have had a very competitive year, with 4 wins, 3 ties, and 2 losses on the season. Their biggest win of the season was a 2-1 road victory against Delsea, who are always very competitive. Some of the standout players are Kody Bagnell (8th grade), who leads the team in scoring, Gavin Zbikowski (7th grade), who leads our defense, and Maddox “Max” Santos (6th grade), who is giving this team a very bright future. This is Mr. Breuer’s 8th year coaching and his 1st with assistant Coach Damico.
The Girls soccer team went above and beyond this year! Going undefeated in their division and winning. Brooklyn DelGozzo and Alena DiGerolamo were the top goal scorers of the season. Zoey Kienzle, Gianna Caputi, and Milanna Roselli had a lot of assists for the goals. Selena Lyons and Valerie Craig were your keepers and had 6 games with no goals scored! They had 14 whole 8th graders on the team who led the team in practice on the field. Overall, the girls worked hard this year, and it paid off. Their Coach this year, Ms. Ford, had something to say about their season “I am very proud of all the girls on the team, from our one sixth grader to our 14 8th graders. It was a very special team”.
The Field Hockey team also had a good year! Their record is 5 wins – 3 losses – 1 tie. Emily Williams (7th grade) has the most goals of the season with 4. Brynn Gribbin (7th grade) with the next most goals at 3. The goalies, Gigi Galli (8th grade) and Vera Birnbaum (6th grade) have had 5 shutouts together. As of the Publication of this article, The Field Hockey team has had 3 more games, one against Bridgeton, one against Lower Cape May, and one on October 30th against Vineland(Their 8th grade day!)
I also reached out to the coach of our Cross Country team, but i never heard a reply, Overall, Hammonton had a great year for Fall sports, All teams finishing with a winning record! I personally went to the Boys Soccer 8th Grade day, and despite a bad loss, it was an awesome atmosphere.
