Book Review: The Fault in Our Stars

In the winter of 2012, John Green published “The Fault In Our Stars”. It was the #1 selling book for The New York Times and is scheduled to be released as a movie this June. This book is about a romance between two teens who had cancer. Hazel Grace Lancaster(16) fell in love with Augustus Waters(17).  Hazel Grace was diagnosed with Stage 4 thyroid cancer by the age of 13 and Augustus Waters had PET. They met through their friend, Isaac, at a support group, and Augustust took a quick interest in Hazel.

John Green wrote this story with a lot of inspiration. He used a girl named Earl, who was also 16, and had thyroid cancer. She demonstrated how life is short, but could also be full. This book received many good reviews. Entertainment Weekly wrote, “[Augustus and Hazel’s] love story is as real as it is doomed, and the gut-busting laughs that come early in the novel make the luminous final pages grade.”

In my opinion, this is one of the best books I’ve ever read. I highly recommend reading this novel. You will laugh, and cry. It’s a book that will touch your heart.
